Myra has been a part of SBG Atlanta’s Fitness Kickboxing program since day number one, and nine months later she is still crushing the game.
When Straight Blast Gym opened in March of 2022, Myra Chao was ready to get after in. During the inaugural Fitness Kickboxing class, held at 6:30pm on SBG Atlanta’s opening day, Myra was one of 2 students in Coach Jim’s class.
“We knew that classes would be light the first few weeks so I wasn’t overly surprised that my first Fitness Kickboxing class only had two people in it. It was Myra and Sari Leven. It may have only been two people but man, did they bring it. Those two together were a dynamic duo and our little 2-person class had the energy of a 12-person class. Sine then Myra has been a staple of our evening Kickboxing classes.”
Myra has maintained steady attendance since that first night, and her conditioning and kickboxing technique definitely shows it. In addition to being a regular on the mat, Myra also attends a lot of SBG’s social events, including our very first Kickboxing in the park (held in Piedmont Park).
Myra is incredibly affable and has made friends with just about everyone she’s come accross at SBG Atlanta. One of those people is fellow Fitness Kickboxing student Savannah Taylor.
“Myra was one of the first friends that I made at SBG. She’s one of the hardest working people that I know and always makes time for the things that are important to her. Despite being put through the ringer at medical school, she still makes time to come to class every week. On a side note, she’s a lot of fun to go to bars with too🤣“
Myra, Savannah, and several of the other girls of Straight Blast Gym Atlanta will sometimes hit the town on the weekends or after a weeknight class. They let the boys join in too….sometimes.
Myra is a full-time student at the Emory School of Medicine. She earned her bachelors in Psychology from Emory, and is now 2 years into medical school with aspirations of working in Surgical Specialties.
