Special OfferWith students ranging from ages 5 to 13, our kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are designed to teach your child THE most effective martial art on the planet for self-defense and incredible self-confidence while guaranteeing that they have a ton of fun in the process.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an incredible ground-based martial arts discipline from Brazil that has become the fastest growing sport, self-defense system, and fitness activity in the world.
Thanks in large part to the exploding popularity of the UFC, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu gyms are popping up at a pretty quick rate. But, not all schools are made the same. SBG Atlanta gives your child access to the highest quality Black Belt Jiu Jitsu instruction available, led by SBG Black Belt Phillipe Gentry.
We never water down our program or sell belts, yet we also make sure that kids are training safe, progressing, feeling confident, enjoying themselves, and building their character all at the same time. It’s pure, high-quality Brazilian Jiu Jitsu training that’s going to transform your child into a well-rounded athlete and an even better person.

Have questions about Kids Jiu Jitsu at SBG?
Here are some frequently asked questions. If you still have questions about the program, please click the button below to contact one of our coaches.
Contact usWhy should my kid do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instead of Karate or Taekwondo?
Let’s be clear, there is value in your child participating in ANY martial art. Getting an opportunity to experience discipline, structure, and accountability is a great thing. Where Brazilian Jiu Jitsu separates itself from a martial art like karate or taekwondo is in its practicality. There is no martial art that is more applicable to real-life issues and bullying than Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Think about your typical bullying situation; a bigger kid picking on a smaller kid, right? BJJ was specifically created to allow smaller people to defeat a larger opponent without having to throw a single punch.
Is it dangerous for my kid to participate in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
No more so than it is for your child to play baseball, basketball, or soccer. Rest assured, your kids won’t be in here punching and kicking other students. We are all about teaching our kids how to defend themselves, but we do so in an incredibly controlled environment. One of the beautiful things about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is that you’ll never need to throw a single strike for it to be effective. This allows for your child to defend themselves without getting in trouble at school for hitting another student.
How many days per week can my child train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at SBG?
New kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu athletes are allowed to attend up to 3 classes per week.
Do you offer a striking program for kids Brazilian Jiu Jitsu athletes?
Yes. Striking is involved in our kids MMA program. All of our new young students start with Braziilan Jiu Jitsu and have the opportunity to move into our Mixed Martial Arts classes. Before we begin teaching your child how to physically strike someone else, we want to make sure they possess the maturity and acumen necessary to possess this knowledge.
