Sisters and Teammates: In today’s world, parents strive to provide their children with opportunities that help them develop essential life skills while nurturing their passions. For the Morillo family, the journey began when their father, a former jiu-jitsu enthusiast, enrolled his daughters, Sophia and Isabella, in SBG’s Growing Gorillas Kids Program. Little did he know that this decision would ignite a fire within them, transforming the sisters into accomplished athletes and inspiring examples of determination and discipline.

Discovering a Passion: Both Sophia and Isabella are avid and talented soccer players. Sophia, the older of the two, possessed a natural inclination towards athletic endeavors. Her father knew she would thrive in jiu-jitsu classes and eagerly enrolled her.

Isabella, on the other hand, was initially unsure about this new sport, observing from the sidelines with skepticism during the first lesson. Undeterred, her father convinced her to give it one more chance. That second class was all it took for Isabella to be captivated by the art of jiu-jitsu. From that moment on, the sisters couldn’t stop talking about it – their enthusiasm overflowing.

The Role of SBG: SBG’s Kids Program became the platform that nurtured Sophia and Isabella’s love for jiu-jitsu. Led by Coach Montana and Coach Carmen, the program not only honed their physical skills but also instilled vital values mirroring their family philosophy at home. The emphasis on character, discipline, responsibility, and being a good person resonated deeply with the Morillo family. It was heartening for the parents to witness the consistent reinforcement of these values, both within their home and at the gym.

Progress and Achievements: Dedicated and hardworking, Sophia and Isabella’s progress in jiu-jitsu has been exemplary. Despite being enrolled for less than a year, they have already achieved the rank of Gray and White Belt, a testament to their commitment and skill, and are quickly approaching their upcoming promotion to Gray Belt. Their efforts, coupled with the unwavering support from their coaches and family, have allowed them to excel in their jiu-jitsu journey.

Model Students and Teammates: The Morillo girls’ dedication and exemplary conduct have not gone unnoticed. Coach Montana proudly describes Sophia and Isabella as ‘model students who bring joy to the class.’ Coach Carmen added that:

Their ability to strike a balance between having fun and working hard sets them apart. They listen attentively, demonstrate exceptional teamwork, and inspire their fellow students to achieve their best. I couldn’t be more proud of them!

Such qualities not only showcase their athletic prowess but also reflect their exceptional character.

Empowering Lessons: Beyond self-defense skills and physical fitness, Sophia and Isabella’s journey with jiu-jitsu has empowered them in various ways. The confidence gained from training in a martial art has equipped them with the ability to carry themselves well as they continue to learn how to defend themselves, which is of great importance to their father, Todd Morillo.

As a father of two girls, I want nothing more than for them to learn how to defend themselves and know how to confidently carry themselves in life. I know jiu jitsu is what they need.

Through their participation in SBG’s Kids Program, they have learned the values of discipline, responsibility, and respect, shaping them into well-rounded individuals both on and off the mat.

A Bright Future: Sophia and Isabella Morillo are undoubtedly rising stars in the world of jiu jitsu and their journey in SBG’s Kids Program is an inspiration to aspiring athletes and parents alike. Their unwavering dedication, love for jiu-jitsu, and embodiment of core values make them remarkable role models for their peers. With their family’s support, the guidance of exceptional coaches, and their own indomitable spirit, there is no doubt that these two young athletes will continue to shine brightly in the world of martial arts and beyond. Congratulations Sophia and Isabella, we are so proud of you!
