  • Strength & Conditioning for Martial Artists Workshop at Straight Blast Gym Buford

It’s official; one of our most requested workshops EVER has been confirmed for Saturday, January 21st.

When it comes to martial arts, skill is king. Putting in the hours, working your craft, and implementing your skillset at a higher level than your opponent. That being said, physical attributes can make a HUGE difference in any fight or martial arts competition. You might have a huge advantage in terms of experience and Fight IQ, but if your opponent is bigger, stronger, and faster than you, they can make things really difficult.

Now, more than ever, supplementing your martial arts training with a dialed-in and effective strength & conditioning program is quite essential if you are looking to train and/or compete at a high level. 20 years ago, there was such a minimal understanding of striking and grappling that if you had a decent grasp of Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, etc, you would have a MASSIVE advantage over your opponent; whether it was in a sanctioned competition or in a self-defense situation. These days, with the explosive growth in popularity of the UFC and martial arts training, simply knowing basic grappling and/or striking isn’t enough to secure your safety or a victory. What you need to give you that edge are increased physical attributes.

Straight Blast Gym Buford recognizes how important Strength & Conditioning training is for our martial arts students, which is why we’ve enlisted the help of Coach James and Coach Amanda to make this workshop possible.

On Saturday, January 21st, Coaches James Morton and Amanda Macioce will host our first-ever Strength & Conditioning for Martial Artists workshop at SBG Buford. This workshop is specifically designed for Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, and MMA athletes that are looking to enhance their martial arts abilities by adding in a structured and effective strength & conditioning program.

Just lifting heavy weights is not enough to give you a competitive advantage over other martial arts practitioners

While Straight Blast Gym Buford offers Fitness Performance classes for students looking to increase their strength, mobility, cardio, etc, those classes are not specifically designed to supplement martial arts training. Coach James creates our Fitness Performance curriculum as a stand-alone program, meaning that for those students regularly training in Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, and Mixed Martial Arts, Performance classes might not get you the ideal results you want. Will Performance classes help you, absolutely…but this workshop is about perfecting your training routine. 🔥🔥🔥

During January 21st Strength & Conditioning for Martial Artists workshop at SBG Buford, Coaches James and Amanda will be covering the following:

💪 How to increase your explosive power

💪 Building strength in a way that will translate to grappling and striking

💪 How to get maximum results from your strength & conditioning workouts without overtraining

💪 Specific movements and lifts that you can incorporate on your own

There will be live, hands-on action at the workshop so wear your gym clothes

To secure your admission to the Strength & Conditioning for Martial Artists workshop, simply call or stop by the front desk of Straight Blast Gym Buford/Atlanta.
