October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and Straight Blast Gym Buford is selling pink belts, hand wraps, and athletic socks to raise money for local breast cancer patients.
In 2016, more than 250,000 cases of breast cancer are detected in the United States. This means that 1 in 8 women in the US will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their life, with 95% of those diagnoses occurring
The good news is that the rate of breast cancer survival is increasing every decade. In 1975, 75% of women diagnosed with breast cancer were still alive after 5 years. By 2013, that number had grown to 92%!
This October, members of Straight Blast Gym will be donning pink athletic attire to help raise funds, and awareness, for breast cancer prevention and treatment. Starting in September, SBG is selling pink belts for our Brazilian Jiu Jitsu members (including the kids), pink hand wraps for our Cardio Kickboxing and Muay Thai members, and pink athletic socks for our fitness members. All proceeds from these sales will go to Paint Georgia Pink, a locally operated 501c3 charity that does amazing work in our local community. Paint Georgia Pink not only raises awareness for breast cancer, but they provide funding for breast cancer patients who cannot afford treatment.
The Choke Out Cancer fundraiser is accepting donations from all local residents, even if you are not a member of Straight Blast Gym!
That’s right, you don’t have to be a Cardio Kickboxing or Brazilan Jiu Jitsu athlete to help out this amazing cause. All local residents in the Buford community are welcome to purchase a belt/wraps/socks, or just make a donation. Every dollar helps.
To purchase a belt, hand wraps, or socks, simply stop by Straight Blast Gym Buford. If you just want to make a donation, we would be happy to take it over the phone at (770)277-8741. Receipts are available upon request.
