When your child receives a belt promotion in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu it is a big deal, and we want it to feel that way!
Straight Blast Gyms all over the world use the Iron Man belt ceremony to celebrate the achievement of being promoted in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. While the individual is the person receiving the accolades and promotion, it truly takes a tribe to accomplish that feat. At SBG, we recognize all of the hard work that goes into a jiu jitsu belt promotion, but also the fact that it cannot be done without your child’s teammates. So, when it comes time to promote we want EVERYONE to be involved!
A Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Iron Man consists of the child being promoted doing a ‘roll’ (live training session) with every single one of their teammates and coaches before receiving their belt. Not only does this practice provide a fun celebration, but also allows all of your child’s teammates to be apart of their accomplishment.
Your child will participate in many Iron Man belt promotions at Straight Blast Gym; some as a belt promotee and others as a participant. Both are equally important. While being on the receiving end of a belt promotion is cause for celebration, it is also important for your child to be present when his or her teammates are being promoted. We are a team, and part of that means supporting each other.
When it comes time for you child to be promoted, we encourage you to bring the whole family out to be a part of the celebration. We will take plenty of pictures for you to have, and we love it when our excited young athletes receive their new belt and immediately get to show it off to mom and dad!
