  • SBG Atlanta’s February 2017 Member of the Month: Andrew Peardon

Andrew is one of the most consistent members of SBG Buford’s kickboxing team.

He has been with Straight Blast Gym since the fall of 2014, and has become one of the best kickboxers in the gym.

Before joining SBG, Andrew’s primary means of staying in shape involved weightlifting at a big box gym not far from Straight Blast Gym. Wanting to engage in something different, more hands on, and more interactive, Andrew stopped by to see what SBG’s kickboxing and muay thai programs were all about, and the rest is history. Recently, he has also taken up no-gi jiu jitsu and MMA.

SBG Buford’s Head Kickboxing coach Patrick Barger has this to say about Andrew:

“One of the things I really like about Andrew is that he is a great training partner. If I have somebody new in class I know that Andrew will take care of them and make them feel welcome. Even if it is a sparring class he’s constantly working on new techniques and using things that I’ve taught during class.”

Kickboxing Foundations coach Jim Sheppard adds this on Andrew:

“He’s one of my favorite training partners. He’s moves really well for a guy his size, and even though he’s a big dude you know that you’re safe training with him. I’ve never gotten hurt, or even bruised up, sparring with him, and that’s saying a lot considering he’s about 6’3, 260 pounds.”

Andrew is currently training in hopes of competing in his second amateur kickboxing competition. His progression over the last few years has been awesome to witness, and we thoroughly enjoy having Andrew as one of the leaders of the gym!
