  • SBG Atlanta’s February 2017 Kid of the Month: Julia Pfund

Julia Pfund started at Straight Blast Gym in the summer of 2016.

Her mom, Jennifer, wanted her to be a part of martial arts so she could learn some valuable skills and pick up some discipline along the way. She tells us:

“I wanted Julia to learn to stand on her own two feet. We loved the coaches, and Julia instantly made some new friends in class. Julia gets super excited to come in see her friends and to participate in Coach Sean’s jiu-jitsu games. I really like that my daughter is having so much fun while also learning martial arts.”

After several months of focusing on developing her movement skills via gymnastics, plyometrics, and general athletic movements, Julia is now focusing on her jiu jitsu posture and techniques. At her age, she is learning how her body moves and how to use it efficiently and effectively. Straight Blast Gym’s head kid’s coach Sean Coleman had this to say when asked about Julia:

“She is such a good kid, and she follows direction so well. It’s a challenge to keep the attention span for younger kids, but Juila is remarkably focused for a 4 year old. She has great attention to detail, and it’s always nice to have someone in class that I know I won’t have to chase around for 45 minutes, LOL!”

Julia arrives and leaves with a big smile on her face, helping to create a great presence every time she is in the gym.

We look forward to seeing Julia’s progression over the upcoming years at SBG
