Marlon Sanchez is only 18 years old, and about to begin working for the Navy. He wanted to take his strength and conditioning to the next level, before he leaves, so he began training in SBG Buford’s fitness classes.
His sister, Arely, told us all about what inspired Marlon to begin training at Straight Blast Gym:
“He actually leaves for boot camp one month from now, so he wanted to start getting in shape for basic training. I have been training here for a while, and I’m always telling him about the workouts. He started by doing personal training with James, and he loved it so much he decided to join the Fitness Performance program.”
It happens all the time; young, high school seniors who are enlisting in the military find themselves wanting to get a head start on their physical training. Basic Training is no joke, and it’s smart to want to be prepared. Marlon was well aware of this, and focused his attention on losing body fat, while improving his endurance and explosive strength.
Arely told us more about her brother, Marlon, and what he enjoys the most about training at Straight Blast Gym Buford:
“I would say that his favorite part about training would be either squat and deadlift day; maxing out for sure. That and he likes James yelling at him, lol. I would definitely say it has given him a major confidence boost going into the next chapter in his life.”
One of the skills that is incredibly valuable for men and women enlisted in the United States military is the ability to be able to listen and follow instructions. The fitness coaches at SBG Buford touted this as being one of Marlon’s best qualities. It was a huge factor in him being chosen as December’s Fitness Member of the Month.
Fitness Coach James Morton told us:
“Marlon is so easy to coach. He comes to the gym with a good attitude, and is always ready to listen and respond. He has become one of my favorite athletes to coach and I’m sure he’ll do phenomenal in the Navy.”
Congratulations Marlon! Let’s get in one more great month together before you head off to begin your new career.
