  • Gorilla Cup 2024: Fundraising, Fights, and Fun at SBG Atlanta’s Biggest Event Yet!

At SBG, we believe in the power of TRIBE and the growth from competition. This year’s Gorilla Cup was no exception!! Between both of SBG Atlanta’s locations (Buford and Druid Hills), the event brought together members of all ages for a day filled with excitement, camaraderie, and friendly competition.

    Highlights of the Day

    Kids’ Jiu Jitsu Tournament

The amazing day was kicked off by our incredible young athletes! We had the largest showing yet among our Kids Jiu Jitsu participation, and it set the stage for the rest of the day!. The energy was electric! Parents and coaches cheered from the sidelines, proud of every effort – win, lose or draw!

Adult Jiu Jitsu Tournament & Muay Thai Sparring

Next came our adult athletes with Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai! The matches were intense and full of technical strategy. Many students compete against long-time teammates and also teammates they rarely get to train with, as they mainly train at altering locations….some even make new friends that very day! Our Muay Thai sparring sessions were a highlight of the day. Athletes displayed their striking skills and endurance in thrilling matches that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats!

    Fun and Festivities

It wasn’t all about the competition, oh nono! The event also featured a dunk tank (which the kids…and one particular kids coach…absolutely LOVED), food trucks were so delicious and hit the spot, and a coffee truck by longtime time member Jeff & Angie Zeidan with Titan Forged Coffee— adding a festive atmosphere to the day. Families enjoyed the variety of food options and and games on the side of the competitions!

    KING OF THE JUNGLE Quartet

For the grand finale of the Gorilla Cu, we had a no-gi adult jiu jitsu quartet. Teams battled it out for the state-of-the-art title of “King Of The Jungle” Championship Belt!

Why We Host the Gorilla Cup

The Gorilla Cup isn’t just about competition; it’s about supporting our community. All proceeds from the event go to our Gorilla Fund, a non-profit initiative that helps fighters and members with competition expenses. This fund ensures that everyone has the opportunity to compete and grow, regardless of financial barriers.
