  • Andre Robles is March’s Kids Martial Artist of the Month

What a turnaround we’ve seen from Andre over the past 4 months. This young man has gone from teardrops to gold medals!!

After our most recent Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament, the Gorilla Cup, Andre put together a masterful performance.  It was quite an event, because of what had occurred at the previous Gorilla Cup martial arts tournament, last Winter.

During Andre’s first martial arts competition, he shed a lot of tears.  Before, during, and after each match, he would cry. He felt overwhelmed by the audience, the pace of the matches, and the pressure to perform well.  What a turn-around just a few short months of martial arts training has made…

Andre continued to train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu twice per week, every week.  When it came time for the next installment of the Gorilla Cup martial arts tournament, we saw a whole new Andre.  SBG Buford Martial Arts Coach Sean Coleman reflects on the event:

“Wow, that was amazing.  He looked like a totally different kid.  Not only was he more comfortable and aggressive, but his jiu jitsu looked GREAT!”

So great, that he won first place in his bracket for the jiu jitsu gi division!

In addition his Gorilla Cup martial arts victory, Andre recently moved up from our youngest age group (Spider Monkeys) to the next age group (Chimps) and adjusted with zero issues.

“Sometimes the younger kids will feel overwhelmed when moving into a new class with bigger kids, but Andre’s transition was smooth as butter.  He’s been great.”

Andre’s brother recently began training in martial arts at SBG Buford, as well, and Andre has been a huge help in his brother’s jiu jitsu journey.

Congratulations Andre!  Keep up the great work.
