    General, News & Events

The recent NFC 164 event on April 20th marked our latest reflection on what it means to be a part of Straight Blast Gym Atlanta. In this article, we don’t just want you to see the highlight video; we would like to share our philosophy. “Inside the Arena: SBG Atlanta’s NFC 164 Highlight Reel” captures not just how our athletes perform but also how they embody the values we hold dear.

A Night of Passion and Determination

At NFC 164, our athletes—competing in Mixed Martial Arts, Muay Thai, and Jiu Jitsu—once again tested their skills under the bright lights in Atlanta, GA. With six of our athletes stepping into the spotlight, the event was as much a rep in competition as it was a showcase of dedication and perseverance. As for the outcomes: the team went 4-2, including a stunning TKO by one of our Muay Thai competitors!

    Effort Over Outcome

At SBG Atlanta, we measure success not by the hand raised at the end of the match, but by the courage to step into the cage, ring or onto the mats… Each competitor, regardless of the match’s outcome, demonstrated what it means to be a part of Tribe. They showed that the effort (relentless, honest, brave) is the true victory.

Our philosophy of “effort over outcome” is about more than just fighting; it’s about life. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or a beginner, the real victory comes in forms of overcoming your fears to test yourself, to grow, and to emerge stronger, no matter the score, the result or the outcomes.

    Journey Over Destination

Why do we focus on the journey more than the destination? Because every training day, every round, every sparring session, is a step toward self-improvement. It’s not just about preparing for any one single event; it’s about developing a mindset that values growth and learning over simply winning alone. This approach transforms our members into strong leaders, into people who lead from the front, who make the effort, who collect their experiences…their “reps”… like badges of honor.
