If you walk into Straight Blast Gym Buford between
6:30pm and 8:30pm on a weeknight, you’ll probably see Francisca getting after it, whether it is in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, MMA, or Fitness Performance.
Francisca enjoys all aspects of SBG, from martial arts to fitness. An enthusiast of building strength, endurance training, striking, and grappling, she has found a way to get in INCREDIBLE shape while also having fun and learning how to defend herself. It was that reason that brought her to Straight Blast Gym in the first place.
“I came to SBG because I’ve always been fascinated with Martial Arts. I wanted to learn how to kick some ass and become the best that I could be, for myself. It started as a personal challenge, now it’s life. I was looking for a reputable gym and SBG met all my requirements.
Francisca had been a member of big box gyms and was tired of doing your run-of-the-mill exercises in what she calls a “cold, sterile environment”.
“I think it’s important for women to do Muay Thai and/or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu because it builds confidence, not just to protect yourself, because that’s a given, but when you start to conquer things that aren’t “meant” for girls you start to understand that there isn’t anything in this world you, as a female, can’t do!
Plus, it’s nice to know that if I ever get in a sticky spot, I’ll be able to defend myself.”
The future is bright for young Francisca. A nursing student, Francisca finds that staying active with martial arts and fitness keeps her feeling good and performing at a high level. It isn’t always easy for her to find the time to get in the gym, but she finds that by staying active and keeping her endorphins going, it makes her a more productive student and person.
