    General

Tyler Trump has become one of Coach Phillipe’s favorite new students over the past 9 months.

“One of my favorite things is that he asks a lot of questions…and they’re good questions. He is incredibly involved and takes advantage of every opportunity to get better, including coaching. He was at my Coaches Candidate Course a couple weeks ago, so he’s clearly in it to win it.”

Tyler came to Straight Blast Gym from another martial arts gym. On his first day we asked him “On a scale of 1-10 how weird are you?” Tyler responded with “11” and we immediately knew he’d be a good fit at SBG Buford. Tyler immediately started training in Muay Thai, and then began doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as well. Eventually, he was invited to the MMA classes. Tyler has expressed the desire to compete in MMA and/or Muay Thai, and with his work ethic, he is fast on his way. His Jiu Jitsu Foundations coach, Jared Gooden, remembers Tyler’s first couple of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes:

“Tyler was great student and is now a great training partner. He’s very smooth and relies on technique instead of speed and/or strength. He’s got a very bright future in MMA.”

Tyler has developed a reputation with his coaches for being a reliable, consistent, and safe student/training partner. He can be found in the gym doing Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and MMA classes in the mornings and in the evenings.

Keep up the great work Tyler!
