  • Wrestler’s Kryptonite Workshop (recap)

On Saturday, August 27th, Coach Phillipe hosted another outstanding “Gorilla Fund” Charity Workshop!

This time it was the topic of “Wrestling Kryptonite”. The workshop centered around the theme of Jiu Jitsu athletes – even seasoned ones – that struggle against their Jiu Jitsu peers that happen to have wreslting experience as well. The idea was to be able to start leveling the playing field by knowing the proper postures and pressures to minimize the threat of ‘the wreslter’.

We had a ton of fun, drills and hard training – building all the proper mechanics to minimize the effects of wreslters in the “early”, “middle” & “late” phases of the standup/takedown game.

Things topped off with some really effective counters as well, leaving everyone with key takeways that can immediately impact their jiu jitsu game around wreslters and people with wrestling experience.

These workshops are solely done for charity, with all contributions going to the Gorilla Fund (an internal non-profit fund that SBG Atlanta uses towards their students in various ways, including the offset of expenses from competitions). We are grateful for everyone’s donations to help keep these workshops alive and well!

What would you like the next workshop to be focused on?
