    General

Geoff Pitts has undergone a pretty incredible physical transition since he started training at SBG Buford.

Most of the body transformations you see from a gym or martial arts school involve people losing weight. I mean, let’s be real; putting on weight is typically much easier than shedding it 😂. In Geoff’s case, he came to SBG Buford wanting to add weight….the good kind that is.

Geoff began his tenure at Straight Blast Gym in the fall of 2019. He weighed 135 pounds and wanted to put on some lean muscle without becoming a bulk-monster.

His first few months of training saw some improvements to his performance and physique, but it was in the summer of 2020 that he really started to make big strides. Geoff explains:

“About a year into my tenure at SBG I started to really get serious about my training and kept a consistent schedule. When I started doing that I started adding weight pretty quickly.”

A common concern for people that are starting our Fitness Performance program is that if they pick up a pair of weights they’re going to gain a bunch of unwanted size. They want to get stronger and add lean muscle without getting “bulky” or “bloated”. As Geoff and others have found out, it’s all about your diet and curriculum; you won’t just get “bulky” because you pick up a few weights. Coach James, the Head Coach of our Fitness Performance program, creates programming that is designed to make his athletes stronger and faster…but not heavier. That being said, if an athlete combines Coach James’ programming with a high-protein, high-fat diet they can absolutely stack on muscle.

In the summer of 2020, when Geoff really dialed in his training and diet, he began adding a couple of pounds of lean muscle every month. Before long, his coaches and teammates were taking notice.

Coach James said this about Geoff:

“Geoff has added an incredible amount of strength over the past 6 or so months. He’s here at the gym 4-5 days per week and he always shows up ready to put in the work.”

Geoff’s numbers speak for themselves, as he has set PR’s (personal records) in numerous categories. Here are some numbers that Geoff has put up in Fitness Performance classes:

💪🏻 3 Reps on the Back Squat at 255lbs

💪🏻 3 Reps on the Deadlift at 335lbs

    💪🏻 Ran a 7 minute mile

You’ve done a phenomenal job of improving your physique and fitness level, Geoff. Keep up the outstanding work!
