Deborah Kellogg is SBG Buford's Fitness Athlete of the Month for August 2021
Deborah is one of four members of the Kellogg family that are killing the game at Straight Blast Gym Buford.
This past April, the Kellogg family found their way to SBG, looking to get the youngest two family members involved in our Kids Jiu Jitsu program. After taking a look around and getting a better feel for the SBG vibe, Deborah and her husband Chris decided to join the tribe too.
"I started training at SBG in April 2021, after my husband and I signed our girls up for Jiu Jitsu, and (my husband) started Foundations for Jiu Jitsu. We wanted the girls to gain new skills, learn self defense, build their confidence, and strengthen their athleticism."
It didn't take long for Deborah and her family to become regulars at the gym, with Deborah attending Fitness Kickboxing and Fitness Performance classes several times per week. In the month of July, Deborah attended 16 classes at SBG Buford, averaging 3-4 training sessions per week. Her efforts have most certainly yielded results, as her strength and cardiovascular endurance have both noticeably increased over the past few months.
SBG Strength & Conditioning Coach James Morton had this to say about Deborah:
"Since Deborah first started training with us she has been as consistant as it gets. With most of my athletes, the most difficult part of their fitness journey is just developing a steady routine that they can stick too. Deborah made SBG a part of her life and now she attends classes like clock-work. Her consisteny has lead to consistant increases and improvements in her physical performance and apperance. That's exactly how it should be; steady gains come with steady attendance."
The fact that Deborah's whole family trains at Straight Blast Gym Buford is a bonus, as we love getting to watch every member of Kellogg tribe come in and get better at their craft while training with the SBG tribe.
"What I love most about SBG is how friendly all the staff is - every single one greets you by name - and how positive and motivating (Coaches) James, Alex, and Carmen are. I really feel pushed to do my best in each Performance and Kickboxing class! I never thought I’d actually enjoy coming to the gym, but now I look forward to each class."
Creating an environment where our students and athletes actually ENJOY coming to the gym and training in our martial arts and/or fitness classes is what it's all about. So many people give up on being physically active because, well....it's hard work and it can suck. By participating in a physical activity that is rewarding, challenging, energetic, and fun, athletes like Deborah find it far easier to be consistent.
Deborah and her family have become great additions to the SBG tribe, and we are honored to have them training with us.
