The Coaches Candidate Course is an in-depth, comprehensive weekend course that helps Straight Blast Gym students to obtain the tools needed to coach martial arts and/or fitness classes at SBG Buford/Atlanta.
Straight Blast Gym’s Coaches Candidate Course has been taught all over the world and has produced some of the top, most revered martial arts coaches. Several years ago, Coach Phil Gentry began teaching his own version of the Coaches Candidate Course for his students at SBG Atlanta and SBG Buford. This year’s edition will feature lots of hot, new material and an emphasis on role-playing and live interaction between the participants.
While being a skilled martial artist is obviously important to be a good coach, it’s far from the only thing that is needed. In fact, for certain programs like our Foundations or Kids Jiu Jitsu classes, being a top-level Jiu Jitsu or Muay Thai practitioner is not a necessary pre-requisite. However, what is absolutely necessary for all SBG coaches is to connect with their students and exude the type of hospitality and enthusiasm that our students have come to expect from us. At the Coaches Candidate Course, we will cover all of the pivotal and essential elements of coaching at Straight Blast Gym.

Previous attendees of the CCC are welcome to attend the 2023 version free of charge. You can register online (using the link above) or at the front desk of SBG Buford / SBG Atlanta. Even if you have attended the CCC before, please enroll at the front desk so we can get an accurate count of our attendees.
The Coaches Candidate Course will be held on Saturday, April 15th, and Sunday, April 16th, at SBG Atlanta. The event will run from 10am – 1pm, both days.
